Miss America 2009 was crowned on Saturday night in Las Vegas and the winner was Miss Indiana - Katie Stam.
She is a communications major at the University of Indianapolis and wants to one day be a TV reporter. Her platform is community service and involvement.
She wins a $50,000 scholarship (enough to pay for about a semester of college) and gets to tour the country for the next year as the new Miss America.
Miss Stam beat out (Top 5) Miss Georgia - Chasity Hardman, Miss Iowa - Olivia Myers, Miss New York - Leigh Taylor Smith and Miss Florida - Sierra Minott to become the new Miss America. She was crowned by Kirsten Haglund who was Miss America for 2008.
