Patrick Swayze’s ‘The Beast’ slain by A&E?
Although the network claims no official decision has been made, sources told Variety that the show has been scrapped after 13 episodes. The final show aired April 23.
Swayze has other things on his mind than his career at the moment. The 56-year-old is fighting pancreatic cancer and rumors have circulated for months that he’s at death’s door. Last month, his rep denied a Florida radio station’s report he had died. But there’s no word of a possible replacement for Swayze, just an end to the season.

Patrick Swayze shares photo to sink rumors of death
Last week, a Florida radio station - clearly desperate for ratings - announced via Twitter that Patrick had died. To disprove this baseless and self-serving rumor, Patrick, 56, has since released this new picture, showing him alive and surprisingly well, alongside wife, Lisa Niemi, and their two wonderful dogs.
Diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in January last year, Patrick was told most treatment was futile as it had already spread to his liver.
The typical lifespan for those given such news is six months.
Patrick has already beaten the odds, and his people are determined to prove he still can, “This is to confirm that Patrick Swayze did not pass away this morning, contrary to reckless reports,’ says their welcome assurance. “Patrick is alive and well and enjoying his life, and he continues to respond to treatment.’ the statement confirms.
And this is the man a second-rate radio station believed they could kill.
Asked why he endured such anguish for the sake of the role, Patrick’s reply is as revealing as it is self-effacing, ‘I just love to work hard.’ he told the scribes.
Most of his peers could learn a great deal from this man, and I’m sure we all wish him well.

Patrick Swayze sets the record straight
After many tabloids spread the rumor late last week that Patrick Swayze’s cancer was generalized and that he couldn’t walk anymore, the 56 year old actor felt the need to set the record straight on his condition by giving an exclusive interview to People magazine:
“Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive disease and from the moment I was diagnosed, I knew I was in for the fight of my life. It’s a battle, and so far, I’ve been winning. I’m one of the lucky few that responds well to treatment.
It’s upsetting that the shoddy and reckless reporting from these publications cast a negative shadow on the positive and good fight I’m fighting. For me, my family, and those close to me, it amounts to downright emotional cruelty. That makes me angry when hope is so precious.”
He also points out that if he left the set of The Beast, on which he’s currently working, it’s not because he can’t walk anymore, but because it was the holidays. As in Thanksgiving.
And he’s obviously thanking his fans for their love and support. The bottom line of what he’s saying is: “don’t believe the hype”.
