Robin Williams hospitalized

Celebrities:

Robin Williams is canceling several performances in Florida of his one-man comedy show, "Weapons of Self-Destruction," after recently experiencing shortness of breath.

The comedian says in a press release that doctors are evaluating him and recommended a week of rest. Williams had been scheduled to perform Wednesday and Thursday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida; Friday at the UFC Arena in Orlando; and Saturday at the Sundome in Tampa.

In the midst of a tour, stand-up comic Robin Williams checked into a Miami hospital with "heart issues," the Miami Herald reported. Drudge said the movie star is in "intensive care."

Williams has reported experiencing shortness of breath on his "Weapons of Mass Destruction Tour" and announced yesterday he would skip four scheduled shows on the advice of his doctor. His older brother died two years ago from heart surgery complications, according to Wikipedia.

According to the Herald's ultra-short story, Williams could be "laid up for a while."

Robin Williams cancels 4 Fla. shows--"Shortness of breath"

Robin Williams was coming here to Orlando, going there (Seminole Hard Rock Casino), performing live everywhere in his "Weapons of Self Destruction Tour."
He was due in Orlando Friday night March. 6. This Friday.

He's canceled four Florida shows on doctor's orders, "shortness of breath."
When you're Robin Williams, shortness of breath is a big deal. Dude never takes a breath.

Sweats a lot, too. Even at 57.

No word as of this moment from UCF on what to do about ticket refunds or a possible rescheduled date. The tour, his website says, runs to the end of May, with dates on Broadway at the end of April and the first of May--80 dates in all.

Rescheduling? He does NOT want to be in Florida in June. Especially with the breath issues. And the sweating.

Celebrity Superstitions Part II

Celebrities: , , ,

Good luck charms and superstitions seem to go hand and hand. Actor Robin Williams carries a carved ivory trinket belonging to his father, Robert Williams, to bring him good omens, according to British Metro newspaper.

Actress Jamie Lynn Sigler takes her superstitions to new heights when the stage is involved. "When I'm in a theater show, I'm very superstitious. I do the same warm-ups. I actually wore the same underwear every show, and I washed them in between. I'm crazy superstitious like that, but not with filming, only with theater," she told In Style magazine.

Actor Rainn Wilson plays the quirky Dwight Schrute on the television show "The Office," and he has a very quirky superstition in real life as well. Wilson will not say the word "Macbeth" in a theater, and rightfully so. "I come from the theater, and you never say the word "Macbeth" in the theater. I believe in that because I said it once and a light fell from the ceiling and crushed my foot," he told In Style magazine.

Tennis player Serena Williams double-checks her shoelaces before a game ever since a match loss in 2007 that she attributes to her shoelaces being tied incorrectly. "I didn't tie my laces right, and I didn't bounce the ball five times and I didn't bring my shower sandals to the court with me," Williams said after the match, according to the British Sunday Express. "I didn't have my extra dress. I just knew fate. It wasn't going to happen." Others may have suggested the No 7 seed wasn't playing to the best of her ability. But, as far as she was concerned, it all came down to the fact she didn't stick to her rituals.
