Susan Boyle on semi final Britain's Got Talent

Celebrities:

Famous even before she gets to win 'Britain's Got Talent', Susan Boyle's performance of 'Memory' on Sunday, May 24 received a standing ovation.

Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle was announced one of 40 semi-finalists on Britains Got Talent 2009. On May 24’s semi-final, Susan Boyle performed Memory from the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Cats.

Host Ant & Dec asked what she's feeling in the past few weeks with all the publicity in both U.K. and U.S., and she said "unbelievable". Further asked whether it added up pressure to the night's performance, Susan answered "What pressure? It was really good tonight, I really enjoyed it ... I'm very happy to be here and thank you all for your support."

Cowell then offered a word of apology to Susan. He said, "You know what, I just want to apologize because of the way we treated you before you sang the first time. You made me and everyone else look very stupid and I'm very happy for you, very proud for you."

After the Sunday round, Susan was declared one of the two contestants that have won a ticket to the finals. The live final will be held on Saturday, May 30.

Everyone is loving this performance. Sure she faltered at the beginning. But imagine the pressure? From Oprah to GMA, Susan has been everywhere but back to this stage and yet she displayed nerves of steel and delivered.

Susan Boyle Goes Hollywood With New Makeover

Celebrities:

The woman who captivated many of us with her amazing voice and stole the hearts of millions with her innocence on the reality talent show Britain’s Got Talent has transformed herself with a new makeover.
Susan Boyle Goes Hollywood With New Makeover
The 47-year-old Susan Boyle shocked the world with her beautiful rendition of ‘I Dreamed A Dream’, from the hit musical Les Miserables. While the audience may have snickered at her bizarre appearance when she took the stage, when she opened her mouth to sing everyone in the auditorium was stunned.
According to Reverend Angela Tilby, the “mood altered. Those watching tapped into something we don’t understand.”

Susan, who is also known for her unkempt gray hair and unflattering clothes, emerged from a friend’s home with freshly cut and died locks, well fitting clothing, and her new leather jacket.
Some fear that this transformation could damage her chances at winning the competition, as her appearance was a large part of what made her famous, adding shock value to her beautiful voice. But Britain’s Got Talent insist that she is perfectly free to make her own makeover choices.

Susan Boyle’s mini-makeover

Celebrities:

Um, we need to talk about what a makeover consists of. Because Susan Boyle’s really, really, really should have included some hot wax.
But she has made an improvement from the shapeless dress she donned for her TV debut on “Britain’s Got Talent.” Britain’s Daily Mail snagged a shot of the reality TV darling in a flattering print dress with a leather (or possibly faux leather) jacks and matching heels.
Boyle has said she doesn’t plan to do a full makeover, but told the Daily Mirror, “I need to sort out my dress sense.”

One of the show’s judges, Amanda Holden (who was brought to tears by her first performance) agreed. “People want the average woman who shows you dreams are still possible and that hopes will still happen for you,” Holden told PEOPLE. “If we made her with big toothy grin or bouffant-y hair, it would kill who she is standing for. Whether she knows it or not, she is standing for the average person in the street. I am sure she will comb her hair and have a bit of (lipstick) on. But she won’t be going under the knife or anything like that!”

Reality TV talent show makes good with diamond in rough sensation

Celebrities:

Reality TV talent shows often cater to what we expect.  But once in while someone walks through the door that hasn’t ever been given a chance and turns into a star despite many obstacles.  Such is the case of Scottish woman, named Susan Boyle who showed up at a reality TV show called “Britains Got Talent,” hosted by Simon Cowell of American Idol fame. Once the 48-year-old unassuming women  started singing “I Dream A Dream” from Les Miserable, to a standing ovation, her simple life changed forever.
The YouTube video of the talented new singer is causing a global Internet sensation, having already been viewed 5.9 million times since it was posted last Saturday on April 11, and the star of the video is not what you would expect as a rising new talent.

Appearing on stage with her plain looks and Sunday-best frock, subjected to exaggerated eye-rolls from audience members, including Simon Cowell, when she told them her age, everyone present soon changed their tune once she began singing in an astonishing sweet-sounding voice, wowing the audience.Even the notorious cynical Simon Cowel was impressed, the YouTube video showing him with a smile of pure unadulterated delight on his usual dour puss.
This quick rise to fame couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person. Susan Boyle has always lived at home in a quiet Scottish town, taking care of her now deceased parents in her later years. She suffers from a learning disability, resulting from a lack of oxygen at birth, and she still recalls the ridicule she experienced while at school.
She now lives alone, is unemployed and says she has “never been kissed.” She used to sing in the church choir at the urging of her mother, who died just two-years ago.
In this cynical culture we live in, where looks are everything and people run to the plastic surgeon to erase well earned signs of aging, Susan Boyle is a breath of fresh air. She appeared on stage sans makeup, with graying hair and bushy eyebrows, armed only with her talent and that was quite enough.
It’s not often we get to see and hear the “real thing,” with Boyle’s naturally beautiful voice, but more importantly, the fact that a nation of cynics can look past her appearance and embrace her talent, is all the more cause for celebration.
